Soul Food

My late grandmother was a traditional southern cook, serving up staples like chicken and dumplings, apple fritters and, my favorite, cabbage rolls. So, it’s no surprise that when she wants to spiritually connect with me, there’s often a reference to food!

That’s right, the four food groups (and sometimes, even libations) often crossover into my work as a psychic medium. Typically, the foodie fun happens when a loved one or friend who’s passed over is wanting to get a message to one of my clients. And, in most of the cases, the one who’s transitioned has usually had a bond with dishes that grace the breakfast, lunch or dinner table!

For example, last month while conducting a session for a client in Baltimore over the phone, I stated, “There’s a spirit present and she’s wearing an apron.” (Notations about spiritual wardrobe choices help me pinpoint a particular focus – like spending time in the kitchen) Then, more was revealed. “She’s showing me a book, like it’s a compilation of recipes. Does this make any sense?”

Not wasting a second, the lady on the line responded, “Yes! Last Christmas, I’d made a spiral bound collection of my late mother’s favorite recipes. I gave one to each member of the family as a gift.”

The spirit then offered a playful side during the session. “Your mom is smiling – almost laughing – because of some kind of competition of sorts.”

“Oh my goodness,” the client exclaimed. “My three sisters and I have each entered a cooking contest using some of her more popular dishes. I picked her spicy crab cakes!”

This week, I received an email from the client: “You’re not going to believe this, but I won first prize in the seafood category!”

You gotta love it when spirit connects with us through our heart, mind and, in some cases, stomach!

Love and light,

Tony

What an interesting read, comforting to the woman that her connection was with the cookbook and recipes, what a beautiful family bond those siblings share. Such a sweet and loving message.

My favorite from my mother and your grandmother was cathead biscuits made in a cast iron skillet at 4am. Something only a southern raised person truly knows.
