These Old Bones

When Dolly Parton recorded the song “These Old Bones” on her “Halos and Horns” album in 2002, I listened to it over and over! Even though the tune came out six years prior to my discovering my own psychic intuition, its story of a mountain woman with clairvoyant gifts connected with me immediately.

Now, some 18 years later, our Dolly has created a Netflix series called “Heartstrings,” which is based on songs from her illustrious music career. When I saw a social media post of Dolly posing with actress Kathleen Turner on the set of none other than “These Old Bones,” I couldn’t wait to watch the episode.

A period piece set decades ago in Appalachia, “These Old Bones” weaves its story about how a reclusive woman (played by Turner) helps people from all walks of life by sharing her spiritual insights. The “bones” in the tale are a sackful of assorted fossils that she uses in her work.

While I don’t engage bones, I utilize the Psychic Tarot Deck, a contemporary version of the traditional cards that have been around for eons. But, just as with her “bones,” the deck isn’t magical; its merely a tool to help bring forth focus and clarity. That was just one of several connections that resonated with me while watching the show.

Without giving the storyline completely away (and, yes, it does tug at the heartstrings), I’d encourage you to watch it for yourself.

Dolly has always had a way with words (she’s written hundreds of songs). With “These Old Bones,” she, once again, demonstrates why she’s a national treasure.

Love and light,

Tony
