Me And My Shadow

It’s times like these, we seek solace in nature and, just as nurturing, our own spiritual soul, that reserved part of each of us that, perhaps, we don’t listen to as often as we should.

I often think of my own soulful or higher being when I see my shadow, the dark silhouette reminding me that I have a dual version of myself that serves a meaningful purpose. As challenging as situations may be, I have the inner strength to find the good and the promising that exists. Some refer to this as the silver lining.

During these recent weeks of the coronavirus crisis, we’ve all seen moments of goodwill, compassion and kindness. Whether it’s running errands for at-risk senior citizens or lining up video conferences so friends can still keep on being friends, these acts bring out the best in us (I especially love the creativity of those who’ve sewn homemade masks to give to those in need).

We’ve also seen the rightfully acknowledged emergence of a new troop of super heroes: grocery and pharmacy employees, custodial staff, first-responders and healthcare professionals, among others. Many major city neighborhoods have a nightly chorus of applause that rings from the rooftops to salute these men and women.

I also tap into my soulful self to assist in my own journey: what truly merits my attention and energy versus what is a mere distraction. I try to practice this on a regular basis. Recently, while walking alone on a deserted stretch of California beach, the sound of waves and the smell of salty air soothed my soul.

And, before long, my higher self emerged from the shadows.

Love and light,

Tony

Our shadows can be our companion and confidant in challenging times.

What a blessing for you to acknowledge and experience nature as a source of renewal for you and your spirit. And it’s FREE! For me, spirit also calls for an accelerated heart rate! I think that is more for my mental health, though.

You are such an inspiration and we are so grateful for your insight and ability to see light and love through through so much sadness and despair others are experiencing. Thank you Tony, for being you.
